For the third year in a row, the Town of Georgina is celebrating Earth Day by giving away trees at the ROC on Saturday, April 25, 2026 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This initiative is supported through funding provided in partnership with Canadian Trees for Life and its vendor, Beech Nurseries.

With very high-water levels and more rain in the forecast, the Town of Georgina is providing sand at designated locations to help residents protect their properties. Residents can fill their own sandbags using the sand provided. The Town will also provide sandbags located in blue recycling totes at the sand locations.

The Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority advises that the water levels in Lake Simcoe are currently 219.23 m and are higher than average for this time of year. Currently, the water level in Lake Simcoe is rising two to three centimetres per day and is expected to continue rising. 

Rainfall is forecast for the Lake Simcoe watershed over the next five days. Total rainfall amounts of 30–40 mm are expected over five days, beginning today (Thursday), with locally higher amounts possible where thunderstorms occur. Temperatures will warm up on Friday, reaching 15 to 20°C, before the main rainfall develops on Saturday.

As winter’s chill gives way to the warmth of spring, the Town invites you to welcome the season of renewal by coming together to care for and refresh the community. There are several activities to participate in during Earth Month including cleaning up neighbourhoods, decluttering homes, planting trees and connecting with one another.

Spring has arrived, and Georgina is buzzing with exciting activities and events for everyone. It’s the perfect time to head outdoors and enjoy the warmer weather. And if the weather doesn’t cooperate, there are plenty of fun indoor activities to keep you entertained.

Repairs to the Beach and Therapy pools at the Georgina Leisure Pool have been completed. They will reopen at 4:30 p.m. today, Wednesday, March 25. The Town thanks everyone for their patience.
